ILLINOIS (WCIA) — For the third time, Attorney General Lisa Madigan is opposing the president’s latest travel ban saying it’s bad for the economy.
She’s joined by more than a dozen other attorneys general, urging the justice department to oppose it. Currently, the ban is being partially enforced.
Foreign travelers from six countries cannot come to the U.S. There are some exceptions. States opposed to the ban say it will hurt tourism, business and college recruitment.
Just last week, a federal court in California allowed the ban temporarily. Right now, the Justice Department has the ruling under review.
Countries on the “no travel list” are all predominantly Muslim including Syria, Iran, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Chad.
