ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A local state representative announced he’ll be stepping down early from his seat in the House of Representatives.

Republican Chad Hays says he’ll walk away in late August or early September. He’s becoming the executive director of Crosspoint Human Services, in Danville.

Hays has served in the General Assembly since December 2010 and as assistant minority leader since 2013.
