URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Crystal Lake Aquatic Center sees hundreds of visitors a day during the summer. After a safety audit by an aquatic training company, those visitors can now play with peace of mind.
The audit returned pretty good results for the park district. It received five stars for its lifeguards last month. It’s the highest rating Starguard gives.
Without knowing they were being rated, the crew was tested on attentiveness, thoroughness and more. The district actually has lifeguards change stations every five minutes to limit fatigue. Officials at the center say a lot of work has gone into making the facility so safe.
Auditors did eventually reveal themselves to the crew and had them perform more specific drills. Lifeguards received five stars on those as well.
Now parents looking for a place for kids to play safely can trust the aquatic center because it now has proof.
