CHAMPAIGN — Ameren crews are restoring one prairie back to its former glory.

It’s happening on Route 45 between Windsor and Curtis. They’re focusing on removing invasive species from the area.

Crews say it will also need reseeding. The Canadian National Railroad and IDOT are also helping out.

They plan to provide a milkweed-rich environment for feeding monarch caterpillars and hope to bring back the prairie’s natural habitat.
