ILLINOIS — A battle over the future of senior care is brewing in Springfield.
Senate Democrats say the governor’s plan, called the Community Reinvestment Program, could strip some green card holders from their home care services currently provided under the Community Care Program.
CRP drew criticism from Senate Democrats and advocates for the elderly like AARP who say it would force some groups of seniors out of their homes and into nursing facilities.
The Deputy Director from the Department on Aging Jennifer Reif told us if they’re already in the program, they won’t be kicked out.
Senators on both sides of this debate urged voters to read the legislation and to reach out to their represenatives or directly to the Department on Aging with any questions about how their care might change – if at all – under this new proposal.
