3 deaths linked to West Nile

ILLINOIS — The state Department of Public Health (IDPH) confirms three West Nile virus-related deaths.

Three people in Cook County tested positive earlier this month. They’ve since died.

The first human case of West Nile in the state was reported in June. IDPH currently reports 64 human cases.

Last year, there were 77 human cases, including nine deaths.
