1 killed in two alarm house fire

CHAMPAIGN — The name of a woman killed in a house fire has been released.

Coroner Duane Northrup says 93-year old Rachel Dyal died in the fire, in the 900-block of West Clark Street, Friday.

Preliminary autopsy results showed she died from injuries sustained in the fire.

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says one person was killed in an early morning house fire. It happened just before 5 am, in the 900-block of West Clark Street, Friday.

Crews haven’t entered the house to recover the body yet because of structural issues. The name of the victim has not been released.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. It’s believed it in the basement, but flames were shooting from the roof when crews arrived.

CHAMPAIGN — Firefighters put out a two alarm fire early Friday morning. It broke out just before 5 am, in the 900-block of West Clark Street.

When crews arrived on scene, flames could be seen shooting through the roof. 

Early reports were a person was inside the home, but authorities would not confirm that. The fire appears to have started in the basement and quickly spread. The cause is under investigation.
