Denise Langendorf and Mary Davis are here with their furever friends to share more about what the Dog Training Club of Champaign Urbana has to offer pet owners.
Our pets should know basic commands to be a happy and safe member of your family. If they get out the door you should be able to call them to you. You want to be able to take them out on a pleasant walk and not have them dragging you all around. DTCCU offers classes for puppies for socialization, Home companion classes for beginners , several levels of Rally and Obedience for those wanting to compete in dog trials, agility , nose work and numerous other dog sports/ activities. Classes are led by member of the club who donate their time. They also put on Rally and Obedience Trials, Agility Trials, the CGC and numerous other activities during the year.
Instructors help you to learn methods to train your dog. They offer 4 sessions each year. Fall classes start Sept 9th and are up for signup now. Denise and Ginger just started in basic home companion, took Rally and Obedience class and liked it- got talked into competing in the DTCCU Obedience trial- won her class and was hooked. We now are Working on our Masters Title in Rally and Utility in Obedience. In two years we have numerous tiles, qualified , competed and placed 3rd at Rally Nationals last month. All my instruction has been form helpful members of DTCCU.
There are other dog trainers around you can go to. DTCCU is run by its own members and is a non for profit organization. Our Rally Trail last June had raffle baskets donated by club members and the community and Raised $900 for Hospice Hearts. We also have a large beautiful, climate controlled building and grounds to train at. Some members drive 1-3 hours to get there.
Aug 25th is Camp Tail Wagging 9-4- summer camp for dogs and their humans.
