Looking to take a trip before summer offically starts?  Maybe to the beach or a beautiful island.  Here to get us out of town L and L Travel Lisa Hettinger.

ALABAMA
Before the summer crowds take over the beaches of Alabama’s Gulf Coast, there’s this little beach concert in Gulf Shores called the HANG OUT MUSIC FESTIVAL…   the weekend before Memorial Day May 17-19  TICKETS START AT $299  THIS YEARS LINE UP  Cardi B, Diplo, Travis Scott, and The 1975.

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE
This city’s signature event is called MEMPHIS IN MAY a month-long celebration containing basically all the city’s biggest events, so May is kind of the no-brainer time to visit. Late-spring weather in Memphis is close to perfection, with warm days and pleasantly cool evenings by the Mississippi.
The BEALE STREET MUSIC FESTIVAL May 3-5, which aside from more Cardi B will this year feature headliners like The Killers and Dave Matthews Band TICKETS start at $115.

COSTA RICA
May in Costa Rica is the beginning of “Green Season,” which is first and foremost a euphemism for “rainy season”, but also just as much a euphemism for “discount season.” This time of year the jungle will be thick and lush, and sea turtles come ashore to nest at Tortuguero. Humpback whales migrate off the coast of the Osa Peninsula. The tourists who come here from December to April drop off, and you’ll see hotel prices drop off with them.

FLORIDA KEYS
This time of year the weather is still not oppressively humid, there’s less chance for rain, and the snowbirds have headed north leaving the islands pleasantly mild and empty.
May 3-5 there is a, DOLPHIN RODEO — food, drink, raffles, and live entertainment to kick off the beginning of MAHI-MAHI fishing season.
From May 16-19, Key Largo hosts the KEY LARGO ORIGINAL MUSIC FESTIVAL, where songwriters and musicians perform intimate waterfront concerts across the island. Farther down in KEY WEST, the Key West Songwriters Festival will have artists performing original works at venues all over the city from May 8-12.

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
OK, it’s no big secret that the only horse race most people can name happens here in May.  So if you’re making your way to Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May, you should also take some time to check out all the city has to offer.  Then there’s the nearby Kentucky Bourbon Trail holding nearly a dozen distilleries.
