BlacKkKlansman (Starts Friday) Spike Lee’s latest is based on the true story of Ron Stallworth (John David Washington), an African-American police officer from Colorado, who successfully managed to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan and became the head of the local chapter. Though fascinating, the film is hampered by one too many subplots and an at times languid pace. However, Topher Grace is a revelation as KKK leader David Duke and Adam Driver provides great support as Stallworth’s reluctant partner. 3 Stars (Chuck Koplinski) Rated R. 135 minutes. ART.
Dog Days (Starts Friday) A group of interconnected people in Los Angeles are brought together by their lovable canine counterparts. Predictable but cute, this is perfect for dog lovers as well as those who are looking for something that somehow escaped the Hallmark Channel and made it to the big screen. 2 ½ Stars (Chuck Koplinski) Rated PG. 112 minutes. AMC-C, AMC-D, SAV.
