Board Game Night at the Library!

EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — The Effingham Public Library has a new-old way to get families to engage: board games!

Many local libraries offer puzzles and board games for check out these days. EPL continues to invest in its game collection, which includes more than fifty different games for patrons. Some are for adults, such as the “new classic” Pandemic, but many are for children.

“These are not your ‘Chutes and Ladders’ or ‘Candyland’ type games,” notes Director Amanda McKay. “These games are designed to encourage young people (and adults) to think and work in groups. They develop new skill sets and new forms of literacy through play.”

EPL is known for its “outside the box” collections, which include exercise equipment and garden seeds, all available for check out.
