PawPrint Ministries makes it their mission to comfort those in need with help from our Furever Friends.
Our journey began in 2014 with a mission to bring hope, joy, compassion and love to individuals in health care facilities, schools and senior homes with certified comfort dogs. We now have six certified comfort dog teams and nine more in training within central Illinois. The demand has skyrocketed to well over 30 requested visits in Decatur and surrounding communities per month. PawPrint Ministries comfort dogs assist individuals with a variety of situations including mental health, emotional well-being, and social issues. Our visits have ranged from one person receiving counseling at a sexual abuse center to hundreds grieving at a high school after a student passed away. We find with every visit, the dogs reduce anxiety and depression, boost spirits, and validate a persons’ need to be heard and interacted with. Our dogs help open doors to peoples’ hearts, jog their memories, and provide a non-threatening way for them to express their feelings.
We have partnered with Dale’s Southlake Pharmacy to expand our veteran outreach services. Our Friends Helping Veterans fund will be used to fully fund two certified comfort dog for local veterans to go out and give back to other veterans. These two veterans will be announced to the public on Veterans Day, November 11th at The Decatur Club in Decatur, IL.
