We’re checking out what’s new at JT Walker’s in Mahomet!
Here’s more from the brewery:
While we know good food through our restaurant, we also know about great craft beer. We’re always trying new things and new experiments. Most people like our small town feel with a mix of traditional beers, along with new and exciting beers such as milkshake beers, and our new beer slushees.
We help people expand their palate with new, exciting flavors, and help expand their knowledge in the craft beer world. We often get questions such as, “what new styles are there”, “how does one make a beer slushee”, and “are we able to purchase your beer outside of the restaurant and brewery”.
What we love about the different breweries around us, is we’re all doing something different. There’s a little overlap in styles obviously, but we’re all doing our own thing. What is really making us stand out from the others currently is definitely the slushees. Doug, our brewmaster, got the idea from visiting different breweries throughout the country that do them and really was excited to try it out. As of right now, we have produced two different slushees which includes our DJ Skinny Pants Strawberry Banana Milkshake Pale which has 3 pounds of strawberries per gallon! We mixed that with some simple syrup to help sweeten it up and bring out the fruit flavors. Our second slushee is our Brewer in the Ambulance Blackberry Raspberry sour. We combined that with a blackberry, raspberry, vanilla simple syrup to really make the berries pop.
Our 3rd annual Mahomet Craft Beer Festival is taking place on April 20th from 2-6 PM. JT Walker’s and the Mahomet Area Chamber of Commerce teamed together for this one. We are featuring 38 different breweries from around Illinois and the St. Louis area. It takes place on main street and we will also have a BBQ Competition organized by Lucas Schoonover, Food Trucks which include Chester’s BBQ, The Snack Shack, and Dragon Fire Pizza. We will also have Homer Soda Company, Alto Vineyard, Down East Vodka, vendors such as Winderson’s Creations, and live music including Steve Meadows, Eric Burgett, and Aquila.
