Families from across Champaign County and Central Illinois are getting the opportunity to have an up close look at how maple syrup is made. While many may think that syrup comes directly from the maple tree, it is actually a lengthy process to go from sap to the bottle.
At Maple Sugar Days, held at Homer Lake Forest Preserve, families are able to see the process demonstrated. They are able to watch as trees are tapped and see how the sap is processed. The final Maple Sugar Days will be held on Saturday March 12th. Registration is required and space is limited. For more information, contact 217-586-2612.
