A community is rallying around one of their own after a health set back.
We always connect strokes to older people but it’s becoming more and more common for younger people to have them. 1 out of 7 strokes occur in young adults and adolescents. Know the signs. The word FAST will help you remember those signs. F (face drooping) A (arm weakness) S (speech difficulty) T (time to call 9-1-1)
Laura Miller is 37 and married with 2 children. She had a stroke January 21st and was rushed to Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria where she underwent a procedure to remove the blood clot from her left carotid artery. She stayed in ICU for 4 days and an additional 10 days in the hospital while family members stayed with her. She is in rehab at Carle Clinic making great progress. She was an in home daycare provider in Tolono which has no benefits and is unable to work yet.
As a loving and caring community, we are coming together to help Laura and her family keep their home and allow them to continue to provide for their children. We invite you to join us in the Love 4 Laura Benefit to help and support their family.
