Long Shot and WRESTLE hit area big screens

An off beat comedy and a gripping documentary that’s being shown to benefit Hoopeston’s Lorraine Theater are on area screens this weekend. Film Critic, Chuck Koplinski, is back with his review!

Long Shot (Starts Friday)

When Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogan) reunites with his first crush, one of the most influential women in the world, Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron, he charms her. As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter and sparks fly. Genuinely funny and very smart, this romantic comedy is buoyed by the surprising chemistry between the two leads – who make you believe these two could be together – as well as a razor-sharp commentary about the personal compromises necessary when one enters today’s political arena. 3 ½ Stars (Chuck Koplinski) Rated R. 125 minutes. AMC-C, AMC-D, SAV.

Hoop Dreams goes to the mat in WRESTLE, an intimate coming-of-age documentary about four members of a high-school wrestling team at Huntsville’s J.O. Johnson High School, a longstanding entry on Alabama’s list of failing schools. Coached by teacher Chris Scribner, teammates Jailen, Jamario, Teague, and Jaquan each face challenges far beyond a shot at the State Championship

Little Lorraine Theater – 214 E. Main Street, Hoopeston
Saturday – 2:00 – 4:30 – 7:00
Sunday – 1:00 – 3:30 – 6:00
