Largest Musical Comes to a Local Theatre


The Beef House Dinner Theatre is pleased to announce that Disney’s Newsies will be the centerpiece of it’s 2018 summer season.  

“This will be the largest musical we have ever produced at the Beef House and we are all beyond excited to bring this to our audience.” says artistic director David Woodrow.
Newsies is the Broadway hit form Disney Theatricals featuring music by Alan Menken. Menken as written the score for the award-winning shows Sister Act, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast.  Based on the film by the same name, Newsies features the songs “Seize the Day,” “Santa Fe” and “Carrying the Banner,” among others.  Set in New York City at the turn off the century and based on the “Newsboy Strike of 1899,” this David & Goliath story is a rousing song dance feast featuring a cast of 40 talented actors from the Danville area, as well as, Champaign, Milford, and Terre Haute, IN.  

Cody Jacobs, a voice major from the University of Illinois, leads the cast as the charming and charismatic Jack Kelly.  Other principal players include Kyle Klein of Champaign as Davy, MacKenzie Kizer of as Katherine, Noah Acree as Crutchie, Belinda Smith as Medda Larkin and Robert Scott as Joseph Pulitzer. The production is directed by David & Jennifer Woodrow and choreographed by Kassie Thomas. 

Newsies opens July 13 with evening shows on July 13, 14, 20 & 21.  Matinee shows play on July 15, 18, 19, 21, 22, and 25.  
Dinner is served shortly after the doors open.  All seats are $48.00 which includes the show, buffet dinner, salad, beverage, dessert, famous Beef House rolls and jam, and cookies at intermission.
