When it comes to backing into a tight parking space, it can be a challenge for drivers in even the smallest of cars. However, when you are learning to back an 18 wheeler into a tight space, it can present a whole new set of challenges. It is the reason that truck drivers go through extensive training in order to be able to do their job safely.
At 160 Driving Academy in Champaign, a new group of students is beginning their final preparations before taking the test to earn their Commercial Drivers License. Among them is Joshua Mayol, who plans to become a professional driver in the near future. For him, the rigorous class has all been worth it.
“Its eye opening to what these things actually entail to drive. The different parts, it’s not just like jumping in a car, even though that’s what the little cars seem to think.” Says Mayol.
Not only is learning to be a truck driver about hands on training, but is also about learning different regulations about the trucking industry. Thanks to driver training programs, both truck drivers and all motorists are able to stay safer on the roads.
