The Booth Library at Eastern Illinois University captures Designs of Duty; an exhibit highlighting veterans’ tattoos.
Veterans from every branch of the military get tattoos to honor, remember, and celebrate their service, along with remembering the lives lost. The exhibit features seven East Central Illinois veterans. The library sees tattoos becoming mainstream, and wants to tell their stories. Exhibit curators say it’s a relaxed take on the traditional biography.
Booth Library is also showcasing artwork from service members. This is another outlet for veterans to share their stories, and get involved with their communities. The pieces range from aircraft designs to helmet art.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. It will be on display at Booth Library until May 11th.
