Clothesline Project from 10am-2 pm in the Student Union
The Clothesline project is T shirt art created on site with messages of support and remembrance of Domestic Violence survivors and victims. Students and staff will create project T shirts at Parkland that will then hang on display in the Student Center, Gallery Lounge and D-Wing for the month of October beginning October 6. THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT
Clothesline Projects all over the world remind people of the real meaning of violence statistics that are often ignored. It originated in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1990 when a member of the Cape Cod’s Women’s Defense Agenda learned that during the same time 58,000 soldiers were killed in the Vietnam War, 51,000 U.S. women were killed by the men who claimed to love them.

Courage Connection with Parkland College will host 3 movie screening of the movie Home Truth. Showing times are at 230pm-430pm-630pm. This movie is about Jessica Gonzales who lost her 3 daughters at the hands of her estranged husband’s violation of an emergency order of protection. The movie showcases her battle and mission of justice (http://www.hometruthfilm.com/ ) Event is free and open to the public

Courage Connection with Parkland College will host Community panel discussion at 630-800pm
Discussion will center on the Home Truth movie including a skype with Jessica Gonzalez (author of movie) along with health care professionals, domestic violence specialists and police representatives in person from our community.

East Parking Lot at 6:30pm
Please join us in a Candlelight vigil at our Champaign County Courthouse to recognize Survivors and Victims Domestic Violence. A Clothesline Project display will be available for viewing prior to event. Guest speakers along with an open platform to share memories and celebratory words will be the focus of this event.
