City of Peoria & State of Illinois Proclaim it Tim Atwood Day

Friday, October 26th both the city of Peoria and the state of Illinois are issuing proclamations declaring Friday Tim Atwood Day –honoring his 38 years of performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and a career in the music industry that spans six decades from 1969-present.  Through his travels across the country, Tim has placed the spotlight on both the Peoria area and the state of Illinois.

Tim is originally from East Peoria, Illinois. He began his music career playing gospel music at the age of thirteen for The Harris Family.

Tim just released a new album titled Livin’ The Dream.   His current single I’ll Stand Up and Say So earned him a trip to Los Angeles where he performed his song on the Hallmark channel’s Home & Family show and a feature story on FOX News.  He recently appeared on the TV series Larry’s Country Diner, and November 10th he will be a featured guest on the nationally televised Huckabee show on their special Veteran’s Day Tribute.

With over 8,500 Grand Ole Opry performances to his credit, Tim successfully transitioned from the spotlight’s fringe where he played piano for Grammy Award winners and CMA Entertainers of the Year to the center stage where he performs his high energy stage show for eager audiences all over the world.

The Memorial Bracelet Tim wears on his wrist was given to him by a woman who saw him perform I’ll Stand Up and Say So in concert.  She was so moved by his performance that she removed the bracelet from her own wrist that she had faithfully worn for 26 years and gave it to Tim saying it is now his time to carry the torch for Captain Grimm–an airman who died in combat during the Gulf War in 1991.  Tim takes his task seriously.  He mentions Capt. Grimm and honors those who gave all during every show.  He has not removed the bracelet in almost 2 years….and Capt. Grimm’s memory continues to live for almost 28 years.
