Ahead of its Time: Exploring the Dr. Charles Wright Home

ciLiving

ciLiving heads to Altamont in Effingham County to explore a home that was truly ahead of its time in the late 19th century. The Dr. Charles Wright Mansion was one of the first homes in central Illinois to have running water and full hardwood floors. At a time when most new homes in America cost around $600 to build, the Wright Mansion cost a staggering $35,000.

If you would like to explore the Wright Mansion it is open on Sundays for tours, as well as on other days by appointment. For more information, you can visit their website
