Noah Nelson joined the WCIA team in September 2022 as a Digital News Producer.
Born and raised in Taylorville, Illinois, he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with minors in political science and history. During his time at Illinois, he participated in Block I, Orange Krush, Star Course Concert Committee and served as a senior columnist for The Daily Illini.
Noah found his passion for journalism as one of the first members of Terrier News, the monthly newsletter for Taylorville Junior High School. He then wrote for Taylorville High School’s newspaper, The Zephyr, serving as its Editor-in-Chief junior and senior years. He also covered a wide variety of sports and clubs for the THS yearbook, The Drift, serving as a Copy Editor for two years.
Noah has also self-published two books “Life: A Collection of Short Stories” and “Dana and Me: A Memoir” on Amazon. Many more books are still in the writing stages.
In his free time, when not writing, Noah can be found doing a variety of activities. These include spending time with family and friends, playing acoustic guitar, reading, collecting autographs, taking selfies with celebrities, standing front row at as many concerts as possible and cheering on the Fighting Illini.
