Matt Metcalf has hosted a variety of shows and special station programming through the last fifteen years. Presently he serves as a contributor and station archivist, hosting From the Vault, airing weekly on WCIA 3 News. From the Vault brings to life the memorable stories of yesteryear by sharing stories of people, places, and events important to the people of our area.
Matt is an enthusiastic historic preservationist and believes a community’s history is a critical component to shaping its future. He teaches historic preservation and history courses and works on a number of public history projects, consulting with museums and historic sites on effective communication techniques and media archiving.
Most recently, he hosted ciLiving on WCIA, where he developed segments on local history and information literacy; he previously co-anchored and helped launch “The Morning Show” at the station, leading the show’s online presence and interactivity efforts. Matt’s diverse broadcasting background includes anchoring and reporting stints in Arkansas, New Jersey, and Illinois, work creating promotional marketing campaigns, and writing and producing broadcast and online content for the NBC and Fox affiliates in Philadelphia. While at Fox, he was a member of the team that launched the MyFoxLocal web sites (Philadelphia), a team honored with the 2009 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for best television web site for Continuing News Coverage of a major news event.
Matt is a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), the American Library Association (ALA), and the American Association for State and Local History (AASHL).
