Gabrielle Cooke joined the WCIA team in June of 2020. She is a Digital Multimedia journalist specializing in telling stories for the web.
Her favorite stories are the ones that shed light on voices that might go unheard and allow her to meet new people.
Gabrielle grew up on the near southside of Chicago in Bronzeville and attended Lane Tech High school. After graduating, she attended Illinois State University, majoring in journalism. During her time there, she competed for their gymnastics team for all four years. Throughout her time on the team, she received conference honors, including MIC Senior gymnast of the year.
Before joining the WCIA team, Gabrielle interned for WEEK-TV and Heart of Illinois ABC in Peoria as a multimedia journalist. She was also involved in Illinois State’s television news program- TV-10 News. She was a reporter, anchor, and producer. Her senior year, Gabrielle received the 2020 TV-10 Founder’s Award.
