Andy Olson joined the WCIA 3 Team in June of 2019, and has been a Sports Reporter since November of 2020.
Andy grew up just north of Chicago in Lindenhurst. There, he found his love for media at Lakes Community High School. After graduating, he majored in Journalism at Illinois State University. Andy worked at WZND, the student radio station, and TV-10, the student television station before graduating in May of 2019. He won Most Outstanding Sports Radio Play-by-Play and Most Outstanding Soft Radio Program from the Student Illinois News Broadcasters Association. He also interned with the Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League as their Radio Broadcaster in 2018. His favorite memory of that summer was doing an inning with Baseball Hall of Famer Lee Smith.
He’s been a sports fan for longer than he can remember. Andy enjoys baseball, football, soccer, and motorsports. He also considers himself a media buff. He likes to spend time relaxing watching movies and playing video games. He likes cooking food, even though he’s not great at it. But he tries his best.
