Adam Sherwinski

Meteorologist Adam Sherwinski joined the WCIA weather team in October 2022. He graduated from Valparaiso University in May of 2017. With his major in Meteorology. Surprisingly, Adam hasn’t always had an affinity for weather.

When Adam was in middle school, he was deathly afraid of storms. Eventually, Adam started to read about storms and how they form. What turned into learning out of fear, became an interest. He continues to be amazed by the power and beauty of mother nature.

While at Valparaiso, Adam was heavily involved with the university’s television station VUTV. In his senior year he became the Weather Director for the school’s station. He has also been live on networks like ESPN3 and TNT during Valpo basketball games, not as a player, but as the school’s mascot, “The Crusader”! When he wasn’t busy with TV or being a mascot, Adam also liked to chase storms with the school’s storm chasing team and do improv comedy. He also had internships with WGN’s Weather Team in Chicago, IL and WCIA 3 in Champaign, IL. In the summer of 2017, Adam joined our sister station KODE 12 in Joplin, Missouri. Adam was the Weekend Meteorologist and a weekday reporter, then as their morning meteorologist. While in the Show-Me State Adam covered tornadoes, ice storms, and sizzling temperatures.

Adam returned to Illinois by joining another sister station WMBD/WYZZ News in Peoria at the end of 2020 as their weekend meteorologist. During that time, he was a producer for the weather team’s podcast and covered science, AG, and human-interest stories around that corner of the state.

When he isn’t in the station, he is quite the avid video game player, traveler, sports fan, and even somewhat of an outdoorsman. He likes to take advantage of nearby state and county parks. Most of the time he hikes, but he always has his rod and reel ready to go fishing!
